CURATOR & ARTIST,
Madera Rogers-Henry - Founder & CEO
This year's theme, "Connecting Us," highlights the importance of mindful recycling practices. Founder and CFO Madera Rogers-Henry is redesigning the festival to focus on smaller, community-oriented experiences. The initiative, led by Madera along with artists and The Recycle Challenge Office, aims to educate consumers about effective recycling, with support from Welcome Home Farms.
The festival will include salons, community experiences, and master classes through the Literacy Project International, which promotes cultural and literacy awareness. Key features will be The Recycle Challenge, which teaches essential environmental terminology, and interactive crafting and recycling stations offering DIY demonstrations. The goal is to foster stronger connections to both the environment and one another through collaboration and meaningful programming. This year we connect our non-profit to our programs that over the years have sustained as stand alone brands.

WALKING PARADE

Over the past three years, our walking parade has united crafters and communities with a focus on human connection and sustainability. In our fourth year, "Connecting US" celebrates our ties to diverse communities while promoting recycling and sustainable lifestyles. The Recycle Challenge festival will feature events throughout the month. This includes workshops, music, panel discussions, and a parade. Added to this years schedule are master workshops taught by local to national artist who will serve as teachers. Last year, we emphasized sustainability in neighborhoods, particularly in historic Pontchartrain Park, engaging predominantly BIPOC communities. This ongoing initiative aims to raise awareness and encourage recycling participation.
