At its heart is the Recycle Challenge Craft and Recycle Station, where community members come together to transform everyday items into beautiful and functional creations.
In the last month, we've been able to expand to locations such as The Net Charter School and Front Row Art Lounge with the
support of a "GET READY" Grant from NPN (Natio
nal Performance Network). The National Performance Network (NPN), is a vibrant network of artists and organizations committed to advancing racial and cultural justice through the arts. For more information: www.npnweb.org.
What makes the Recycle Challenge Craft and Recycle Station even more special is its community-driven nature. It provides a welcoming and inclusive space for adults at various skill levels to come together and learn from each other. Whether you're a crafting novice or an experienced DIY enthusiast, you'll find a supportive environment that encourages collaboration and creativity.
The first of many series to follow will start on November 16, 2023, from 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. This is a "free" crafting session that encourages free attendance for anyone bringing one or more of the following items such as newspaper, plastic grocery bags, and tee shirts - that can be recycled.
Ultimately, Front Row Art Lounge and its Recycle Challenge Craft and Recycle Station support a greener and more sustainable future. By showcasing the beauty and potential of recycled materials, they inspire individuals to think twice before discarding items and instead find ways to give them new life. Through community crafting sessions, they foster a sense of camaraderie and connection, building a stronger and more environmentally conscious community. Our collaboration is to help minimize the environmental impact while fostering a sense of responsibility among the community.
What Can Be Expected:
All items created will go towards our parade a festival that raises funds for our non-profit Literacy Project International aka Whose Magazine? A Youth Publication.
We provide most materials. Bring a crochet needle.
There will be four activities that will be introduced:
1. The crafting of cardboard hats or crowns.
2. Introduction to basic crocheting of plastic bags.
3. Creating tee shirt tote bags.
4. Introduction to mending paper costumes.
