THE FOOD TOUR & REVIEWER - The RECYCLE CHALLENGE

These Ala Carte Tickets provide ticketholders with access to all six nights of activities and one full day on Saturday.

TIME: 5:00 pm

New Orleans is a city filled with iconic dishes! There’s nowhere better to sample po'boys, beignets, or a delicious bowl of gumbo!

For this competition, teams of individuals and families will visit twenty restaurants to sample the different local cuisine. Each team will be given two hours to complete their assignments as food reviewers. All teams will be coached by a youth and parent volunteer.

The team will take photos and provide written feedback on food quality and the service they were provided at the restaurant. These will then be shared on social media. The final review will be featured in Whose Magazine? an online magazine and printed publication. Potential restaurants will be revealed in January, allowing participants an opportunity to make a bid for their restaurant of choice.

At this time, participants must provide the following:

  1. Confirm the number of people in their group.
  2. First names, ages, and favorite types of foods of each party member.
  3. Report food allergies, if any.

This is a donation-based event, with no people turned away for lack of funds. Participants will be paired with restaurants based on the best fit. The funds raised will assist Whose Magazine? (Literacy Project International) and its fiscal agent CCI. The amount each person or team donates for the dining experiences goes to funding Whose Magazine? programming in New Orleans.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

When teams arrive at their restaurant, they will be met by an adult and youth volunteer, armed with notes, pencils, and paper.

  • You will take a group photoshoot and photos during your experience.
  • The volunteers will coach, provide support and encouragement, and collect the final handwritten food review.
  • We encourage your children to participate, complete the writing assignment, and post on social media.

Also, if your team of two enrolls, other teams will join you.
