From Waste to Wonder: Sustainable Costume Design with Madera Rogers-Henry

Hosted by: The Recycle Challenge – Crafty ThursdaysLocation: New Orleans Healing CenterDuration: 4 Weeks (One session per week | 1.5–2 hours each)

Cost: Free when committing to four weeks, otherwise it's $25 for full series (includes Costume Workshop Membership + Parade Crew Access)

Audience: Teens, adults, emerging designers, and eco-conscious creatives of all skill levels


Overview:

Join recycle artist and founder of The Recycle Challenge, Madera Rogers-Henry, for a 4-week journey into sustainable costume-making. Participants will explore how to creatively repurpose everyday materials—like newspaper, paper bags, and discarded textiles—into vibrant, functional art for parades and public showcases. Each session will focus on a different aspect of upcycled costume design, while reinforcing environmental stewardship and creative problem-solving.
