PARADE TIME: 2:00 pm sharp!
(Instructions & directions will be emailed ) Parade walk times range from 2-hour to 3 hours time frame.
The Recycle Challenge Parade & Festival's Smart Art Of Trash Krewe will be parading with Krewe of Red Beans, their newest krewe known as The Green Beans.
Be a part of Mardi Gras 2023!
Be a part of a Mardi Gras Parade and support the environment! The Recycle Challenge is participating in a Parade on the best Monday of the year – Lundi Gras” the day before and Monday before Mari Gras.
See the below information for planning your arrival in New Orleans:
A list will be sent with details after your confirmation. The details will include the location to meet and a list of items to bring.
Sign-up must be completed by February 12, 2023.
1. You have three options:
a) Assist in building your costume or,
b) create your own look (a letter will be sent with directions),
c) our team creates your costume. A fitting and final prep for your costume.
You will be briefed on your participation on
February 15, 2023/ Time: 1:00 pm / Location TBA.
2. A rehearsal with krewe members (Rehearsal times and location will be confirmed)
3. February 20, 2023 - must arrive at 12:00 noon for dressing.
The parade starts promptly at 2:00 pm!
Expect the parade to take around two hours.
The Recycle Challenge is raising funds for the non-profit, Literacy Project International aka Whose Magazine? A Youth Publication, The Recycle Challenge is dedicated to expanding recycling throughout the US and internationally. The Recycle Challenge Parade invites you to be part of a fully engaged, energy-high participation in a 3 to 4-mile parade and walk throughout the Marigny and Treme neighborhoods of New Orleans. Last year over 1,000 plus paraders, walk, and past-out throws. For The Recycle Challenge, we provide "gives" to thousands of cheering and requesting "gives" along the parade route.
The Recycle Challenge has room for only 160 participants in this year’s parade and walk.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- You will be contacted on the next steps via email on being prepared, what to wear and, custom-made costumes for your participation in the Lundi Gras parade.
- Your costume will include: *Costume suit, gown, or dress *Hat, mask & banner
- THE RECYCLE CHALLENGE will be part of "The Green Beans" and Red Beans Krewe
- You will be receiving fifty "gives" to hand out to paradegoers while walking the route. a) Our "gives" extend to paraders gifts ranging from jewelry, accessories, money, food, and free or discount tickets. The "gives" we create are handmade and come from the heart, they are something you can use, wear or enjoy.
- Everything features recycling, organic, natural, or a good-for-you theme.
